Matcha is powdered green tea made from tencha (this is the same green tea used to make gyokuro). Tencha is shaded for three weeks before harvesting. This process increases amino acids, eliminating bitter tastes. 

Our Imperial Ceremonial Matcha is organic and made from purely the buds of the tea plant.  The buds were harvested in the spring and ground into a fine powder by a stone mill. Imperial Ceremonial Matcha is the highest grade of matcha. It is usually used for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies. It is high in umami, with no bitterness. 

We love this tea for its thick and creamy hot chocolate texture. It has sweet vegetal taste notes. It can be enjoyed on its own or in any way you prefer.
