Our organic wild Purple Bud

Zi Ya (Wild Purple Bud) is a red tea processed from the Camellia sinensis var. assamica cultivar with a naturally occurring mutation that causes purple pigments to appear on the tea leaves. The mutation happens when the tea plant grows in an area with unfavorable conditions. It turns purple to protect itself from UV rays. The purple pigment is rich in anthocyanin.

We love this tea for its sweet dried figs and Medjool dates taste notes!
